OH DEER!

It’s autumn, and if you’re a deer, that means love is in the air! 🦌🍂
As for all the drivers on the road, it's not quite as loving...

Here are some tips from insurance experts to avoid deer collisions;

•  Watch for the rest of the crew. Deer travel in packs. If you see one be alert for any other deer trying to dart across the road.
•  Deer are most active from dusk and dawn. Stay alert you may be able to spot a deer because their eyes will brightly reflect a car’s headlights, making them easier to spot!
•  Stay in your lane and do not swerve, since this can cause you to hit another vehicle and/or lose control of the car. Try to slow down and stop if it is safe to do so, to allow the deer to clear the road.
• Honk! A long honk may scare them off and allow for you to pass. Do not rely on hood whistles or other devices designed to scare off deer—studies have shown them to be largely ineffective at minimizing accidents.

Deer, coyotes, hogs, and all other animals can be pretty unpredictable.

Stay vigilant while you’re driving, which means not looking at your cell phone. Wear your seat belt, because accidents can happen no matter how careful you are!
